Matoke (Matooke), the national dish from Uganda, is a meal of steamed green plantain. These bananas are mainly found in Africa and South America and in terms of taste they are reminiscent of a sweet potato with a slight banana aroma. They can be cooked, fried, grilled, baked or even enjoyed raw, as long as they are fully matured. The maturity is reached when the outer shell has turned completely black.<\/p>\n
